Thanks Michael!

I shot him an E-mail. Let me know if you find the other. Always worth saving a few $$$.

That's not a bad price for it.

I have some reservations about being able to retrofit this to what I have. Not fully convinced yet that it's truly an '85 IROC, 305 TPI motor rather than a throw-together something or other.

- 1985 Model Year -
305 TPI engine w/ alternator on the passenger side and multi v-belt drive system

Yep, my alternator is on the passenger side, but the alt., w.p., and crank pulleys are a multiple small-groove type, not single large-groove for a v-belt. The alignment doesn't look quite right either.

- 1989 Model Year -
350 TPI engine w/ alternator on the driver side and serpintine belt drive system. Visually identical to the 305 TPI.

OK, so chevy moved the accessories around on the 89-up serp setup. Are there bolt holes on the 89-up heads/block that are used for bracket mounting that might not be present on an 85 head/block combo?

As far as I know, the pre-86 heads are drilled the same way as the later ones. All Gen I heads are drilled the same I thought. I know all my 91's original 305TPI serp brackets and accessories bolted right up to my late 70's style heads. Maybe someone else knows better than I do though....

Could be, I know that the ZZ4 motor that I put in my 92 was missing 1 bolt hole in 1 head and I had to drill and tap it myself.

But wasn't that an aluminum head? I've heard of them occasionally being missing one hole, but not the cast iron factory heads. Then again, maybe I just learned something new! :vern

That's why I said could be.
I know I found a few post about the ZZ4 and the serpentine belt setup and how you had to drill 1 hole.

It appears that at least one is missing from the pass side for mounting the AC/AP and perhaps the same on the other side for mounting the PS/Alt.

Of course I'm comparing the 416 heads to those on my 92 TBI serp setup. Not sure if that's apples to oranges.
