Well, if anyone is interested in doing this for there car I am putting in on the site for all to see.
I had a clarion 5 1/4 component set laying around here so I thought I would put it them in the rear sail panel speaker location. The location that original had 6x9's.
So here is a Cad drawing of it.

It's a little big to look at here at work so I will have to look at it when I get home tonight.

I am looking at it but I don't know what it is?
I assume it is a plate for the 6x9 speakers so you can mount a 51/4 speaker? why don't you like 6x9?

It's not that I don't like 6x9's, its just that I already had the componet set laying around.

Here's a smaller pic. Remember the drawing is sideways.
I tried to leave enough room for the speaker grills. I know mine fit with about 3/8" room between the woofer and tweeter.

Well mine are out of 1/16" sheet metal. If you wanted aluminum you would probably want thicker, right?

I personally believe that a component system would sound better than a 6x9 if you have the bose rear (in the hatch) speaker system. Not sure if you didn't have this feature, I would assume that the 6x9 might be better..?

A quality component set will ALWAYS deliver better sound quality than a coaxial speaker...

Phil and I had the attach mod disabled for a little bit, this caused all of the images that were attached to not even be in the post. Nexus6 wasn't able to even have a link to look at.
