i am looknig into buying a 9 bolt and the guy says it whines a little bit.

sounds to me likes it could either be just low on fluid or on its way out from this world.

how rebuildable are these units? what could possibly be causing the problem?

i'd probably be going with another ring and pinion anyways, so if that is the problem then it is not so bad.

or is it just the way some gears are cut and tend to be more noisy than others?

i'm getting a really good deal on it, hehe. let me nkow what you guys think, thanks.

Usually the posi is going out. Sometimes it can be the gears though.

Will be expensive, as you have seen from the post in the non-tech forum. The carrier will be around $400 and the gears are about $400. Everything including the install kit is about $900-$1000.

The build just almost like normal rears, a little different with the cones, they are super strong also.

What type of whine does it have? Acceleration, de-acceleration, turning, all the time?
