Well, I am about to get some cash, so I think I am going to mod my '88, cause who wants a stock V8 F-car? ;) I am thinking at this point of porting anp polishing my intake plenum and TB(I do pretty good P&P, but only for myself, i'm not THAT good;) )

Some new runners, either SLP or AS&M runners, on that, are the siamesed that much better on a 305? The little bit of extra work for port matching the manifold and plenum, that's no problem at all ;).

Aftermarket lower manifold, ported and polished.

Some aluminum home polished and slightly ported AFR, L98 or fastburn type kind of head.

Some Comp R lifters(if neccessary on a modded LB9, if new Melling's are sufficient, they are fine by me, I am not going to overrev the engine).

The LT4 Hotcam or equivalent cam.

Valve springs are my biggest issue. I need to know what works well with up to probably .550 lift, though I don't think I'll be going near that high, I believe in getting a better spring than you need. Most likely at this point, I'll be running a 1.5 equipped car, and then throw on my 1.6's just to see the difference. I am guessing LT4 springs don't work due to install height or diameter or something, or will they?

1.6 RR's or 1.5RR's, depending on my flowbench numbers.

Long tube headers, are Hedman's OK? They are only 119 from Summit, can't believe they can be any good for that price...I'd strip the factory shipping coating and coat them in 1200* ceramic paint and header wrap, maybe.

an AFPR, of course...I hear Holley is one of the best?

Possibly some PROM tuning, I tune LT1's, so I have the basis to do it, but I have never done an EPROM before, what do I need? I already have TunerCAT, but not that module, however that's easy to get. What all is involved and needed in tuning EPROMS?

A decent cat back, I am thinking either Borla or a stock LS1 WS6 with cut out exhaust, something adjustable to quiet, unlike my Z28, Lt's, duals, no cats, large 112lsa cam...;)

A posi rear end, I have a non-posi 4th gen axle with gears, but I have a spare 3.42 set and an Auburn 3 series carrier, and theyll fit no problem.

New clutch and a built T-5 or T-56, depending on cost.

Removal of AIR and EGR, as I am not in an emissions area(well, not after a couple months from now.)

Some suspension work, a complete front end rebuild with poly bushings, like the Spohn set and new idler/pitman arms and ball joints. Also, I have some very low mile 4th gen SS LCA's from a Blistien car, supposedly harder durometer rubber, like the 1LE's, and a poly bushing equipped PHR, stock bar, and a new set of lowering springs like GW's or a Pro Kit, and some new Bilstien shocks/struts...

It won't get done ALL at once, but a bit at a time, with me and some friends doing the installs. I personally have broken down and put together LT1's before, and I don't see this being too different, just Gen II and Gen 1.5 engines, mostly the same.

Does this sound feasable? Any input? In the future, I am thinking of building a 9:1 355 with a blower cam and a Procharger, and reusing the ported stock uppers, the runners, and such. Oh,and an 8.8 at that point, too...;)

If you are going to pull the heads off, why not just go ahead and do a 350, geting rid of the 305 handicap. I would think you could build a stout short block for under a grand, and be that much further ahead.

I would imagine a set of GMPP springs (like the Z28 springs) would be fine, depending on the head you ultimately choose.

I like the BBK AFPR, but I think they are about all the same.

I think a good combo would be a 350, with a set of the Scoggin Dickey massaged Vortec heads, one of their TPI Vortec intakes, the LT4 cam, siamesed runners, and a stout clutch, and you're done. That is the engine I wanted to do for my 92, but I never keep a car long enough to plan that far ahead.....

Well, the only reason I am not pulling the 305 immediatly is the fact that I think I want to try putting the blower on it just to see how much it can take with thoe really nice and thick cylinder walls, I will be building up my 355 on the side.

If you can wait till this weekend I will post a good reply to all of this, just hard to do during the week as I do not have that much time.
