ok since im about to start putting my be cool radiator in this coming holiday weekend if the weather permits, im trying to trouble shoot everything that i think will be a problem beforehand. now i have this question. on my radiator now, i have a wire going to something screwed into the side of the radiator. i unplugged it today and let my engine run, and my temp guage still worked, at least i think it did, it kept going up after i unplugged it, i dunno. so i have no idea what the heck this thing is. any help would be great guys.

My friend's 89 firebird had that as well, but my car doesnt. I do know that its not the sending unit for the temp gauge, because it is located in the drivers side head. I think it may be the temperature sensor the the ECM.

That funny, most do not have one there, not sure what its for but I do not think it would be for the computer.
Does the car have dull fans on it?

I am having a problem getting my car hot enough, I drove to work and the fans never came on, might need to put a 190 thermostat in it.

i thought the sensor on the side of the radiator is the low coolant sensor. when i put my new radiator in it had one there, i just didn't have anythign to connected to it. try grounding the wire and see what happens..

with the be-cool radiator i know one problem your definatley gonna have.and thats gonna be the fan shroud fitting on the radiator.your gonna have to fabricate something for it.have you bought the radiator yet?.if not i would suggest the radiator that louis has on his car.it fits better and from what i hear it cools better too.i cant remember what kind it is,but i think pantera knows the brand.oh,and its less expensive. by about 200 dollars

sure phil, ill give it to you for like 5 bucks. i dont want the dang thing.

yes ive already bought the be cool, and i knew i was gonna have to mess with the shroud. i already did a test fit, and its gonna be about what louis had to do to his, ive just gotta cut a little to make it fit.

low coolant sensor...... it might be. i dunno, more research is needed.

I thought cooler was better . . .

To prevent frostbite while driving maybe? I been rather chilly driving to work at midnight every night not even hitting 160... LOL

AH.

My car is not a daily driver . . . I seldom think of it like that.

Heater . . . that'd be nice to have right now, huh?

190 is a good temp for making power with TPI, 180 is starting to get a little cool.
And the times I ran 13.8 to 13.9 was with the motor at 190 to 195*
